I have a new build using a Samsung 970 EVO pro NVMe drive.

I cannot get a fresh windows install to boot this drive. Using windows media creation tool, ( redone this part several times) , I boot off the USB and this part copies the install files to the EVO drive. However, when the system boots, the process takes me back to the BIOS ( with no error messages ) and the install process terminates. Been on with MS tech support for 5 hours with this issue. They cant fix it and say it must be the drive.

Why would I install windows 7 on a brand new high spec pc? I am stupid yes, but not that stupid. Your point about the compatibility of the chipset was why I attempted downloading and install the latest chipset from ASUS to see if that was the issue - My CPU was the latest Ryzen 7. The motherboard had the latest BIOS. The drive had the latest M2 driver. Either way, all attempts and fixing an unknown possible issues unsurprisingly failed. They were all just shots in the dark at that stage.

The previous comment made about me giving up easily is truly hilarious. It wasn't like I was just sitting there staring at the BIOS for 4 days hoping for some magical fix to appear.
Not all the "latest" BIOS work with CPU's. That is where you need to be careful and read as to what BIOS version will work with your CPU. Furthermore you need to reread all of your posts bud, nowhere in any one of your posts did you say anything about trying to install WINDOWS 10 64 bit PRO. You just want someone to argue with, i get it, this thread needs to be closed. Have a good day.

As a warning to others reading this never ending post who are thinking of building a PC - do not assume that your components will work together, like I did, and set aside a few weeks to fix it if they are incompatible or defective. Also, don't expect any help from the manufacturers and don't expect or assume that there will reliable manuals or any sort of useful documentation online. Also, don't expect PC Builder to give you information you can trust. I am sure they are doing their best but there are too many variables at play . And finally, remember that all those youtube videos you watched showing gleaming shiny systems.. they are getting paid to show that.... who knows how many of those systems actually work. Not as many as they would lead you to believe! Buyer beware.

I think my decision to send everything back was the correct one because, still, at this point, no one on this or any of the other 5 forums has come back with any sort of guidance or suggestions for a fix, so I would still be in the same position if I had persisted with problem solving -

As the famous saying goes - PERSEVERANCE - the courage to ignore the obvious wisdom of turning back.

This is the warning i got when i checked pc part picker for compatibility issues. Whether its 100% accurate or not is up for interpretation

Warning! Some AMD A320 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Pinnacle Ridge CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions.

Nowhere did you say it was Windows 10 64 bit PRO but okay
If you read the posts carefully, I mentioned a "fresh install" of windows. To me that doesn't mean a 7 year old version - Also , you would notice that @SkyNetRising somehow brought windows 7 into the conversation, not me. And then, you will also notice, that he suddenly jumped to the conclusion ( fact ) that I was installing windows 7 and then promptly decided that was the cause of all my issues. The devil is in the detail.

Yes, the 2004 (May 2020) had/has issues.
Obviously, those should have been addressed before release.
I've updated 2 of my secondary (and easily recoverable) systems, just to see what happened.
Zero issues.

But so has every other major or semi major update, to any OS, ever.
For instance: https://www.computerworld.com/article/3067268/the-shame-of-windows-update.html

I'm just gonna continue to shake my head. You will back peddle and back peddle and make it look like no one knew what they were talking about, but before you even did anything at all that was suggested you sent all the items back. So to insist that no one here offered a fix for you is completely wrong. you were given a suggestion to try and instead of trying and providing proper information you opted for RETURNING the products and then continue to act as if you DID EVERYTHING and that no one but YOU knows what the heck they are talking about. Again sorry that you have been jumping through hoops for 7 days, but perhaps you need to do some more research on products and ensure they are "out of the box" ready. You messed around with a lot of settings before asking for help, you had hoped that it was just as easy as plug it in and go. its not how it works when custom building a computer. Would you do the same if you order all the parts for a car and laid it out on the ground and say to it JUST WORK. Just writing the words FRESH INSTALL doesn't mean WINDOWS 10 it means you are installing a clean and fresh install of your Operating System. NO specific detail was given. Its the equivalent of ordering milk and then pointing out afterwards that you wanted Skim Milk not 2%. I still don't know what you want anyone to do for you since you already returned all products, and if you chose to re-order the same or do some research, who knows but i can tell you in a week from now the community will be here to help you regardless of the way you act today. Its not easy and its frustrating, just stop trying to belittle everyone

So - you were trying to install windows 7 ?
Then I'm absolutely not surprised, you had trouble making it work.
This is what you are talking about? To also point out his previous post was going off my post, how it takes time and sometimes its not as simple as plug it in and away you go. He reiterated that by stating is own experience with Windows 7 and how it took him a day or so to get it to work as its known issues with it on NVMe. You went on about how Win10 is unstable and find that Win7 is the better option. SO Based on that post he asked if you were installing win7 and if so then he can see why you were having troubles. NOWHERE did he conclude in fact that you were doing that but asked the question.

OK - if I still had the products , what fix would you suggest? ( Preferably one I hadn't tried)

There is virtually no point. When and if you purchase new products and need help then we will cross that bridge when we get to it.
Well there is a point actually - If I thought there was even one thing I did not try, then I would be the first to admit that impatience got the better of me. If however I did try all legitimate possibilities, then sending everything back was the right thing for me to do.

You will also see that my first posts on this forum back in Sep 2019 were to ask advice about what components to buy. Unfortunately, stuff goes in and out of stock all the time so I chose what I chose based on my best understanding at the time.
