The one and only one M.2 port should be capable of using that drive.

Look in the user manual, 1-7 Internal Connectors, to see if there are any conflicts with anything else.

only thing i could find in the manual was that it doesnt take the m.2 sata ssd sata 3 1 whatever that means. i dont know a whole bunch about pcs as it is so i google most of everything.

Actually, that M.2 port DOES accept a SATA M.2 drive.

Irrelevant, though.

Where did you buy this drive? It may be defective.

Bought it today and from best buy. Will be returning it tomorrow. I plugged the nvme into the m2a port on the mother board so I know it's plugged in right.

You might also search your BIOS options to make sure the NVME interface is enabled for the slot...
