I feel ya. Especially if this product becomes unsuccessful and unpopular and people watching you talking on the phone thinking, "Oh that's just wrong dude"

Great on paper, Bad in reality. I think a better solution is Camera's Bluetooth/WiFi connectivity (Auto/Manual Sync + Resolution/Publish Settings) to your 'pocket' fitting Phone.

If you want to take it to the next level then a Camera's VM to your Phone still in your pocket.

Otherwise you ARE going to break that Camera Phone in no time flat or have a VERY bulging nerd pack attached to your belt.

Wasn't this already posted?

Anyhoo, the addition of an android device is pointless. Just use an Eye-Fi card and dump the pictures to your actual phone (or ipad/tablet/etc.) in real time. Why complicate an otherwise good camera with the unfortunate downsides (instability) of Android? I know it's not the same situation, but I can't count how many times the camera and gallery apps crash on my stock android phone and tablet. I would smash a camera to smitherines if I had to put up with that outside of my phone/tab.

Would depend on price and photo quality.
If it is typical smart phone camera quality, forget it.
I can buy a decent Canon or Nikon compact for $150 that will do nice pics when you do not want to lug your SLR around; I usually carry one as a backup.

First I thought "Awesome!" then I thought a bit more. If one has a smartphone, no need for this, unless the price is same as for a regular camera like this. Then it does not matter. If you just have a regular phone, it would be OK, but some of the big features that a smartphone has like navigation, contacts, IM, etc... are a bit useless without a data plan available for the thing and seeing how this is not a phone/camera but a camera running an Android WiFi Device it may as well be a camera with a really complex control back.

The article says that this thing will come with cellular data in addition to a wifi-only model.

This is exactly what I want. I want a camera 1st, phone/pda 2nd. Smartphones with a bad camera are a tease. A great camera with a so-so phone would be ideal.

But it all comes down to price. Put this thing too expensive, and it might as well not exits.

I am liking this, now here is innovation from Samsung, eat that Apple!

[citation][nom]razor512[/nom]cool, now all they need to do is make a DSLR that runs android[/citation]
I hope not. Most DSLR's are on instantly. Android wakes up fast, but does not start from scratch that fast.

If the quality is good, this could be a decent second camera. I have used many different units and even in the same brand you get hits and misses.

I also hope it packs a backside illuminated sensor as well. Makes a huge difference in low light(at least in my testing) and has less noise as a result.

Lol...neat gimmick. Wont take off at all but would have been interesting if instead of being integrated the camera would be a removable add-on to the Galaxy SIII.

this is great, while we are at it can we have.. the screen size to be 5.5", to have a pen (spen) and 4,000 battery (aka can we have a galaxy note and galaxy camera mashed together) ?

wouldnt kill me if it also featured the beam from galaxy beam.

i would call it
Galaxy 007

Running Jelly Bean and available with WiFi or WiFi and 3G/LTE, the device is capable of uploading pictures directly to Flickr, or social networking sites. Additionally, the camera app on the phone packs exposure settings, photo modes and editing tools so you can tweak your pictures before putting them on Facebook.

From my point of view the part "social network is a crap. I wonder why people like so much put on facebook (or equivalent) their all life? Really?

But the post-processing possibilities offered are great! It definitely could change the way we take pictures as digital camera made it in the early 2000. I just wonder if it will be a camera app in Android or if you can just use the camera without the need to boot the entire system?
If the functions are independent it could save a lot of battery life and avoid the risk of loosing pictures because you experienced some crash of the OS...

Anyway, go Samsung! give us new concept even if I don't really know what to do with all the possibilities of this one, innovation gives dreams!!

this is "smart" camera, same thing happened on phones, now happens on camera. all cameras will probably move to this direction, using an universal OS, that helps cutting cost, and brings more features to cameras.

canon have to catch up, otherwise it will become another nokia. don't be silly to use windows os. windows should soon release something called "windows camera"?!

transition on camera should take longer time than phones take, we don't change the camera so frequently. anyway it is good move. i can expect i can take notes on good quality photos i just toke, and send to somewhere. yes this can be done with phone now.

1st gen smart camera should need more improvement, i would wait for the 2nd gen. i used the 1st gen galaxy phone, keys on screen can be easily activated during phone conversation.
