samsung Express Cache

hi guys,
i have a samsung NP530U4BL and the hard drive stopped working after being dropped, so i have to replace it. i installed the new drive but that express cache 16GB it has, doesn't let me install windows on the drive. any of you had the same problem/found a solution?

Are you trying to install to the 16GB drive? If so, that won't work. You need to install to the new drive using the Clean installation method. What version of windows are you trying to install?

Hi darkbreeze, thanx for replying.
No i installed a new hard drive and im trying to install windows on that but when i try to install windows, that 100MB that windows needs and reserves on the drive as a new partition, goes to that 16GB drive and then it cant run windows

Use the following method, be sure to delete ALL existing partitions during the process then select the new hard drive as the OS destination. You'll need to click the advanced option when you get to the point where it asks where you want to install windows in order to delete the existing partitions.

Thank u darkbreeze, i will try that and let you know. I haven't tried installing windows 8 becase the laptop was bought with windows 7 and i wanted to install 7 again but i will try. i think it will work with 8 because i tried installing linux (ubuntu) and it worked fine.

Be sure to delete the Linux partition if you install Windows 8. Windows needs to be installed first on dual boot systems as the boot loader is finicky that way. If you want to install 7 instead of 8, the process is the same and here is the link to that install tutorial:

Personally, I think Windows 8.1 is much better than Windows 7, it has better hardware and driver support and offers some slight gaming advantages in some benchmarks. If you don't like the metro screens and prefer the Windows 7 desktop, just install classic shell:

Every system I build get's Windows 8.1 plus classic shell, unless they specifically want to buy a different OS.

yeah i removed linux, i was just trying to see if it will work.

i too think that win 8.1 is better thatn 7 now, depending on the hardware you have. There are some computers that dont accept win8 or 8.1, i had another laptop that was bought with win7, hp pavilion, and when i tried installing win8 i had more troubles than before, nothing was working and i had no drivers from HP and i had to go back to win7 again.
I will try first with the second link you gave me, for 7 and if i have the same problem i will install 8.1 and that's it.

Since that unit never came with Win8 as an option, Win7 might be the best place to start. Windows 8.1 should absolutely be capable of running on that machine, as well as the free upgrade to windows 10 when it's released. Which OS you choose is up to you. Going backwards, using 7 in place of 8 etc., is when trouble usually crops up.

Yeah i've had that experience too. a friend of mine had a win8 laptop and he wanted win7 and i had a lot of problems going back to 7 from 8. but i think you are right, from 7 to 8.1 is going to be fine.

Thank you very much darkbreeze, the solution you gave me for win7 worked with the method they mention in the link, i tried installing win7 with UEFI.
