Cannot import photos to pc

Not surprising, really. Some of the earlier Galaxy had pretty awful driver support.

Can you not just email them to yourself, or use Google Drive, etc?

Put the photos onto SD, remove the card and import that way?

If you connect to the computer, via USB cord, and don't use the Samsung software to make the transfer, you should be able to just open a new folder in the computer and transfer it that way. Using the computer rather than other software, to do the work.
