Samsung Laser printer problem

I've got a Samsung Laser printer, XpressC430W, that since the last firmware update no longer recognises third party toner. Fine, so I go and get regular Samsung toner. One arm and one leg later, the Samsung isn't recognised either. I dig around on waybackmachine and find the link to the older firmware and drivers, install them, no dice. Same problem. So I have a less than one year old printer that refuses to work even with its own toner cartridges. Does anyone have ANY idea something I can try by hacking into the printer and reflashing it to default or something before I have to basically chuck it and buy a new printer?

Please help if you think you can!

Thank you!

Sadly, I don't have that option. I bought it in France and am now living in Canada. Samsung Canada wants nothing to do with it, France won't help me either.

Yeah, I tried that already, unfortunately. Trying to install the original firmware over the update didn't seem to make any difference. I think firmware updates lock in and can't be removed. If I had some kind of factory flashing tool, maybe I could swing it then.

some DRM firmware, which it sounds like this was, can burn out parts of the CMOS rendering them physically unable to load the older/larger firmware.

I remember something about burning the registers with an overvolt. I cannot remember if it was a console or a printer but it was an attempt at increased DRM.
