Hi everyone,
I've got a Samsung Syncmaster SA350. It used to be working fine with my laptop - connected by vga cable and hdmi adapter for my laptop.

I left the monitor for a while in the basement - 2-3 months - and now when i try to use it again - it just shows Check Signal Cable.

Menu screen seems locked - tried holding menu touch button for 5 seconds - Nothing! Menu is still locked.

My laptop is working fine with other monitor or TV. Every time I plug in the monitor to my laptop - laptop acknowledges the connection with the usual Windows ring sound. Laptop screen either goes dark or changes the resolution - but Samsung Monitor does not change a bit - It keeps showing Check Signal Cable.

Is my samsung dead? It lights on - is showing check signal cable - but that's it.

Any thing i can do to save it?

No, its not damp at all. The heater is always on and its gets pretty dry and hot. But perhaps for electronic devices it might be humid.

I tried taking it to Samsung service center (biggest mistake) - they wanted to change the mother board (is there one on a monitor?) and something related with the power. Though its clearly switching on, showing that check signal cable ..showing menu screen - though locked....And the service fee they are asking is good enough to throw this and buy new one.

I really hoped i could revive this one somehow.

I tried to update the firmware. I installed the program but when I ran it, it says that monitor has the most updated firmware. Also reinstalled and ran the driver - nothing.

By any chance - could this issue be because the capacitors have gone? Saying this after watching some youtube videos. But i'm wondering if capacitors are gone, how come i can see the Check Signal Cable bouncing around on the screen and also the Menu screen.

And more importantly why is Menu screen locked? Why wont it let me RESET the screen?
