Samsung Planning at Least Two Windows Phone 8 Products

Im excited for these. I wanted a lumia 900 but im locked into verizon. Maybe one of these will let me try out windows phone x
 
Curious why Nokia hasn't been kept-on with the next WP releases (unless they have, and we're not told of it). While Nokia has seen tough-times recently, their WP hardware got excellent feedback from users. I would have assumed that MS would want to continue with that relationship.
 
Meh Id rather Nokia's. I'm an nostalgia bastid. LONG LIVE NOKIA. Samsung, you make some nice products and all but you can keep it :)
 
If Samsung jumps on the WP8 bandwagon, maybe we can have some serious competition in the phone market! And since there's little hope for RIM to come back in the game, it's welcome news. Competition = good.
 
Of course this is going to happen. Both Samsung and Google stole so much from Apple that after Samsung loses in court to Apple, it will be easier for Samsung to fall back on WP than to actually innovate and create its own designs.

Windows Phone is great, but Samsung is not; it's a thieving, conniving, evil company that has never had a single original idea. Please Samsung, stop stealing, and focus on creating components for competent and innovative designers to use, like Apple and Nokia, so they can continue to build great products!

I know you'll be downvoted for that, but I second you on this claim.
I am all against the Apple's ways of claiming they invent everything while they are themselves just copying other people's concept (and they don't even improve the functionnality but instead just make it more "bling bling" with fancy animations to please their sheeps). But Samsung is known (and not only in the IT sector) for being a copycat company. They never invented anything and worst of all, they even dare charging a premium price for their so "inspired" designs !!! I would not say the same about companies such as HTC who really bring something extra to the android experience (you may like sense or not, but they try to bring an added value). Regarding your claim that Google stole things from Apple, I quite don't see what it could be? Windows Mobile could already do most of the things that an Android device or iPhone can do (years in advance) and the Android GUI has always had years of advance on the iPhone. It may be more choppy, slower,... but Android always had the widgets, drop down notifications menu, folders,...
 
My contract is up in Q4 and I am really hoping for a competent Win8 phone. I am interested in Blackberry 10, but don't have much faith left in the company.

I spend about half my time messaging in one way or another, in which Blackberry is the best, and the other half the time wishing I had a better screen and more apps. So, can't have best of both worlds.

Nokia is expected to reveal it's next-gen WP devices next month. WP8 will use Nokias mapping solutions, and WP will be Nokias only smartphone platform.

Oh, that's good to know (for Nokia, at least). I had heard virtually nothing about MS-Nokia agreements, so it worried me a bit to see this new news.

Personally, while I use android devices for my phone and tablet, I'm more excited about the potential for windows 8 mobile devices. It's nice to hear of expanded hardware collaborations--hopefully the platform sees a better chance than 7.5 did.
 
There is always T-Mobile. After the ATT acquisition attempt, T-Mobile definetly came out on top with increased broadband spectrum, infrastructure, and capital.
Personally, I don't care about the manufacturer since getting pre-loaded bloatware has always been something I avoided. The apps I do like are usually in the marketplace.

Samsung make 25% of the iPhone, if samsung don't have original ideas, how come Apple are using tem to provide parts?

I'm not trying to argue against you, but that info doesn't help because all Samsung did for the processor is fabricate them--Apple 100% designed and engineered (i.e. "invented") the processors they use for iphones and ipads. So Samsung still didn't "invent" jack for that. It doesn't really lend any help to the "samsung doesn't invent things" accusation (which I personally disagree with, but to be fair your link doesn't really help out much).

ARM designed the processor, and if you open any apple device and look at the manufacturers / part numbers, you'll see that apple didn't design any of the rest either. They simply use off the shelf silicon, and get Apple printed on the top.

You couldn't be further from the truth.
 
Windows phone is great in my experience. I look forward to seeing more options on the market. A market flooded by overpriced Iphones and unstable Androids

Are you guys serious? You can even look at the wiki page for the A5X here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_A5 Apple designed and engineered the processor--of course it's based on an ARM architecture (it's an ARM chip after all...). It's still designed and engineered by Apple--they have a whole ARM-based processor engineering team. Samsung only fabricated the chips.

For historical reference, ARM arose from a joint venture between Apple and another company--Apple has had huge processor-design/engineering efforts with ARM processors for quite some time, and even still owns a fairly large portion of ARM Holdings. I'm shocked that this comes as a surprise (based on the above responses). Regardless of Apple's hardware-design patent idiocy, they've had significant efforts in processor design for a long time.

That wikipedia article does not specify how much input Apple had in the design of the A5, and the citations are all links to articles based off Apple press releases. For reference, I knew of Apples history with ARM. Kindly cease your condescending tone.

That's fine--feel free to believe what you want despite the fact that Apple bought PA Semi (one ARM design company) in 2008: http://www.forbes.com/2008/04/23/apple-buys-pasemi-tech-ebiz-cz_eb_0422apple.html/ and then another company called Intrinsity in 2010 that ended up internally producing the AX5: http://www.macrumors.com/2010/04/02/apple-appears-to-have-acquired-intrinsity/ and that they've been building that number for many years prior to now: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124104666426570729.html But that's cool. If that's not enough info and you want to believe that despite the acquisition of two ARM design companies over the recent years, and developing a large internal team of ARM design engineers within Apple working on a processor design that's exclusive to Apple products really means that someone else actually designed them, who am I to stop you?
