i might be wrong, but the jumpers on the new SATA HDD's are only used to set the drive in 1.5Gb/s insted of 3.0Gb/s mode. I think you can also limit the drive size with the jumpers.

The old days of MAster Slave and Cable Select... dont happen anymore.

If i have it right, you just want to add a 2nd HDD to your system????

just add it in on a spare SATA port of your MoBo and the Bios will add it to the system, and you will see it on Windows/linux/whatever.

How that helps PAL!

step 1: buy 500gb sata disk
step 2: plug sata cable into spare sata port
step 3: plug sata cable into disk
step 4: enjoy

there's no master/slave jumpers to worry about any more - just leave the jumpers as they are and you'll be fine.
