Samsung SyncMaster T220HD

Hey guys.

Basically I bought a Samsung Syncmaster T220HD. The max resolution it can do for a computer monitor is 1680x1050.

I understand this is in between 720 and 1080 HD.

On the box it says that it supports 1080p, 1080i, and 720p. But I thought it can only do 720p?

I am going to buy a PS3 and was wondering if I would be able to see games in 1080i or p? I don't mind having black bars on the top or sides...

I heard that it will run at 1680X1050 when used as a monitor for the computer, but will run 1920x1080 when using the tv and playing video games...is that true?

On the product page it says The "T220HD features a built-in full HD 1080p digital HDTV tuner"

I am really confused about this stuff...Can someone please enlighten me?

The onboard DSP does the work to downscale any 1080p signal fed to it to its native resolution of 1680x1050.

Your display only has 1680x1050 physically. Any other resolution has to be processed by its DSP.

I have this monitor T220HD. I had PS3 on it, I was getting 1080p in the PS3 menu. I was able to get most games at 720p. I think it something to do with the PS3 menu being able to change the resolution. With that said, everything looked great on this LCD regardless. The great thing about this LCD is the fact that there's 2x HDMI, DVI,RGB,optical audio, HDTV tunner. Good luck.

Agreed, I own the T240HD. A great series of moniters thats affordable.

As said before, everything will be scaled down to native res. Still, most PS3 games are optimized for 720p, so no biggie there.
