I too thought only one of the pair could be in use at a time, but MP is allowed. Its unlikely for a phone to allow the "MP" mode but the tablet/netbook variants could with their larger batteries.

The performance ultimately will rely on the software switcher. The intelligence behind where the threads get assigned. Apps will have to be profiled for efficiency which is the biggest weakness.

I'm not sure what in my comment leads you to believe I'm trying to challenge basic arithmetic. Yes, 4 + 4 does indeed equal 8. But in the context of this SOC it's not the same thing as 8 symmetric cores, which is what an uninformed reader is likely to believe when they read "8-core" without further explanation.
