Crossbar says it will kill the $60B flash memory market with Resistive RAM, which stores a terabyte on a chip, take that SumSuck, lol

Mmm. And for how long as all that technology been ~5years away? Memristors, graphene, hydrogen cars etc.?

Also, reading the article, they have about twice the data density of NAND. Whether the NAND is 1, 2, or 3bpc is unspecified.

The '1TB chip" is the size of a postage stamp. I doubt we're going to see that for a while.

2TB for 2 years? And you call yourself power user? How about 8TB in 8 months? How long do you think Samsung 120GB will last?

One is simply not considered a power use based on his data storage needs. It is complete wrong assumption.

For instance if someone has TB's of porn would you consider him as power user? Would you?

If I was writing 1TB per month of porn I would :)
The thing is the guy who wrote an article claims long life of SSD based on his usage.
What if his usage was more intense? Why bother praising something if not giving all the data?
Even Samsung is trying to avoid giving data. Something is fishy here.
If he was using hard drive this subject would probably not even come up.

12TB per year. 1000x120=120TB total. Sounds like the drive would last for ten years.

Are you still using a 2003 HDD?

Actually I said I wrote 8TB. What I did not say is that at the same time I wrote many times more to HD. If I only used SSD and no HD for work I doubt very much if SSD even lasted a year. And I am editing photos. SSD just not ready to use as HD for everything.

No, no , no. If longevity tied up with the size that is no good either. 1TB HD lasts just as long as 4TB HD. And I doubt very much that prices will ever match HD. You are forgetting that our needs in storage are growing and SSD is behind the times now. By the time 1TB SSD will be $100 or less I would need 12TB instead of current 3TB.

"There are also areas in Samsung's portfolio that are conspicuously empty, specifically the PCI Express-based add-in cards. Most other companies have high-performance options able to transcend the limitations of SATA,...."

Since there is already a standard for a four-lane PCI-E connector, might they consider PCI-E add-in cards a stopgap measure and be focusing on the long-term solution?
