Have a SanDisk SSD (480gb) in a Windows 2008 R2 machine that suddenly went DOA. This is the primary boot drive and is probably 8 years old. Machine will not boot. Removed it and put it in a USB hard drive cradle and get "K: is not accessible" "the parameter is incorrect" error. I can see it in Disk Manager and it looks ok. When put in CrystalDiskInfo it shows as having a "Good 100%" rating.

Currently running a CHKDSK with /f and /r parms. Is there a better solution to fix this? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

You might want to hook the drive up to another (donor)system and see if the same behavior is seen on said system. If it's inaccessible as your current system, then the SSD has conked out.

May not work, but a worth of try;
* Buy new SSD, Samsung preferably.
* Use clone software, Samsung Data Migration Tool, if you bought Samsung drive.
* When clone is successful, new drive should be ready to boot.

Now, this above works, IF the SanDisk drive is in read-only mode and cloning software can copy the data from it. Also, when given the OS on it is sound and not corrupt.

Other option is making clean Win install on new SSD, if the clone doesn't work. This way, you can get your PC back to running status.

DOA = Dead On Arrival. And it only applies on hardware that you bought but arrived in dead state. DOA doesn't apply to hardware that you already own but died on you.
