Which version of 9600XT you got, because Sapphire released about 8-10 versions of 9600XT. What memory does your card use is it BGA or TSOP, BGA is square shaped, and TSOP is a rectangle. And what's its stock frequency, you could find out this using any overclocking software.

-AMD Athlon64 3200+@2300mhz -GAK8N -3x512 Hynix PC3200 ram@192mhz 2.5-3-3-7 -Albatron 5900PV @ 560/1000 -SB Audigy -Adaptec 1210SA Raid -2x120G Seagate SATA150 7200.7 Raid0 -Enermax 460watt psu

Also be forwarned, some 'XT's were actually overclocked PRO cores.
I believe that Gigabyte (surprisingly) GeXcube and Powercolor (not surprisingly) were the main culprits IIRC, but maybe even Sapphire did so. It was mainly appearing in the initial release of the XTs, but there could still be some lurking out there.

However being able to OC above 550 without artifacts is pretty good. I know of many people who've OC'd higher, but nothing's guaranteed with OC'ing. Some Pros can OC above 550 (mine goes to 535) and some true XTs can't, it's always a crapshoot.
