but in reality the x1900 is twice as fast as the x850...

X800GTO is 12 pipes, but 16 can be yours if you know jow.
Modded, It can beat an x800xl cause some have x850 core....
It has a 256 bit path as well.
x1600 is 128 bit path with a 256 bit ring bus......so.....
it don't beat the x800xl. Saw the reviews. Sad but true.
(shader 3.0 may matter later on ok but....)

But I really have gotten to where I think the X800 series has
poetentials to bees the sweet things it is.
GTO 2 or GTO Extreme should be the choice if you're an o'erclok'r;
b'o'bby damm if the x800xl ain't cheaper now.
x1600 looks like an x700 that grew muscles. For $299 you can do better
($299 is the price for an x1600 512mb at local Best Buy.
Not that you're spending that much, but if you were, you could do better)

I've read about the pipe unlock too and the memory is definetly supperior. think i'll go with the x800gto and see my luck if i get the x850 core. thanks to all.
