I'm building a FreeNAS Server using the Norco RPC-4224 Server Chassis, using an AMD Ryzen 7 2600 + 64GB of RAM. The motherboard I'm planning to put supports only 6 Onboard SATA ports, so I need an expansion card to support the extra hard drives.

I'm thoroughly confused between a RAID Card / SAS-SATA Expander / HBA Card.

Will this particular card : https://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Expa...8-6G-SAS-SATA-24-Port-E91267-203/133063317075 work for connecting my 24 hard disks ?

If not, can you tell me the differences between all the three types of cards above, and if possible recommend a card which would work in my case ?

Solution
No, it is not a standalone card.
You'll need one of the ports (minimum. 2 is the maximum) to connect back to a compatible Raid card Leaving you 20 drives supported (16 when using 2 ports back to a raid card)
