I have a Kingmax SSD. It's running fine. A big step up. But for some reason the driver is from 2006. Is this really the most recent for my chipset?

This is the right web site for your laptop:
http://www.asus.com/au/supportonly/K42Jv/HelpDesk_Download/

The problem is, they don't support Windows 8.
If everything is working I wouldn't worry about it.
Hmm... Okay. I have checked Intel site and there are some updated drivers for WIN32 for Series 5/3400, but nothing for 64-bit. Seems strange. 2006? I'm on Windows 8 64-bit. Asus K42JV notebook (from 2010)

Okay. Just worried about worse performance due to an old driver. According to device manager, this is the driver that's being used for the Kingmax as well. Before SSD's even existed :|

The only difference for the computer between a hard drive or SSD is Trim support, and you get this in Windows 7 onwards. Other than that it is just a sata drive.
It is important that the SSD is configured as a AHCI drive in the BIOS rather than a legacy IDE drive.
