Sata-IDE/IDE-Sata adaptor doubt

I've broken my 2 SATA entry points on my motherboard so I bought this adaptor to connect my SATA2 drive using an IDE entry point on the motherboard.

The problem is now that I have another SATA2 HDD and I want to use the same adaptor to connect and use it. But every time I try to use the SATA-IDE port on the adaptor, the HDD isn't detected. Only the IDE-SATA port detects my HDD's.

What can I do?

Oh this makes things a lot clearer. I guess you are right. However you could get an external enclosure, a docking station, or a SATA to USB adapter and use one of the drives as an external, until you get a new motherboard.
Just FYI, note that when you get a new motherboard, you'd most probably have to make a fresh install of your OS, unless the model of the motherboard is pretty similar to yours (and this still doesn't guarantee that you'd be able to boot from the drive you have already installed Windows on with the new mobo), so keep that in mind.

Please update me once you've got everything up and running and don't hesitate to ask if there are any questions whatsoever.
Cheers! :)
Hey there, Rafael.

Check the drive with a different computer, to see if the same thing happens. It sounds like the adapter is working fine with the other SATA drive, so it shouldn't be at fault here. Also make sure that the there's no size restriction for this adapter if the drive is larger than the one that doesn't have any problems. Also, try reinstalling or updating the adapter's drivers to see if that fixes things up.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how it goes.

Hi there, Boogieman_WD,

I've tried and tried the new, working 1TB HDD on the SATA-IDE end of the adaptor, but after much researching I've found out that it's for using old IDE HDD's. You're supposed to connect the adaptor directly on the IDE drive and then the SATA data cable comes out of the adaptor into the SATA connector on the motherboard. All I can do now(without any SATA connectors working on the motherboard) is to use the IDE-SATA end of the adaptor where you connect it to the motherboard and then use the SATA data out into your SATA HDD,
which is what I'm doing now.

Meanwhile I'm looking for a new mobo with better glued/connected plastic connectors, and more than 2, preferably, lol.

Thank you for your kind answer by the way!

Hey there Boogieman,

I didn't know that about motherboards, but reinstalling my OS is never a problem for me, I do it practically twice every week. I actually like it a lot, experimenting with different OS's etc.

Well, my new motherboard is expected to arrive in about 9 days now, I'll keep you informed whatever the case.

Once again, thank you very much! ;-)
