Hi All,

i have several internal hard drives that I keep in storage that contain my various documents and files. They are usually 1TB drives.

I use them daily, so I pull them out of my case and put them into a Startech HDD Dock.

I use the " StarTech.com USB 3.0 eSATA Hard Drive Docking Station with Cooling Fan"

Based on this I have 2 questions:

1. Is there a limit on the number of times I can switch them out and put them into the dock?
I would really hate for the SATA pins or connector to wear down and not be able to access to my data one day...

2. Can these vertical docks damage the hard drive if I use them in the station vertically?

Any ideas on this please?

Thank you!

I don't know about pin wear, but I don't think it would be a problem. Also, hard drives can be mounted in almost any position with no ill effects. We still have a few servers where the drives are mounited on their side and this is by design.

thanks. is there is way the black connector can be replaced if they ever start to wear down?
