Part 1 of my problem:
Hi guys, so my problem at the moment is I have a solid state drive running with the OS i wanted to eventually upgrade my space due to my solid state being only 100gb anyways,
I connected my old HDD (it had my OS on it previously but I reinstalled it onto my solid state) and when i restated my computer it was really slow so I thought I may have short-circuited my hard drive so I disconnected bought a new hard drive and I still get the same problem. The problem is I went to BIOS and changed the settings to AHCI and again a slow startup but this time it will load the OS but basically freeze. So not knowing what to do I tried RAID(AHCI), IDE and AHCI again just to be sure but again nothing works, IDE in fact doesnt detect any of them and decides to run the OS from the CD drive. So I'm left with wondering maybe when I installed the OS on my solid state the first around I may have had the wrong settings that would prevent me from adding a hard drive down the line.
I guess if nothing else I can just reinstall my OS I did backup my SSD onto an external.
Hopefully you guys understand my situation from the muddled up sentences I just typed lol.
Oh and before I forget I'll add my specs:
SSD:119GB Samsung 830 series
HDD:Western Digital Blue Edition 1TB Sata 3 internal hdd 7200rpm
HDD:Western Digital Black Edition 500gb sata3 7200rpm 32mb cache
OS:Windows 7 Ultimate
MoBo:Gigabyte p67a-ud3 ddr3 2133+ UD3
if anything is left out I happily add it to the list.

Thank you!
I was assuming that was what I was supposed to do but you know it's always good to clarify.
Also if you could maybe clear this up for me what does X.H.D do exactly? it seems to have something to do with adding new HDD or SSD but without the need for configurations but I wasn't really sure, I thought it might help later on but who knows.
Again thank you for the clarification on what to do, if you can't tell me about X.H.D that's fine, I guess its time to reinstall Windows!
Part 2 of my problem 🙁 :
So I thought I had everything sorted and again jemm thank you for answering my question and your solution would have been the best if not for something I found out later on.
So I did a clean install of Win7 on my SSD everything went well installed drivers using the cd I got with my motherboard, installed samsung Magician wasn't sure what tweaks I was supposed to do so I just optimised my drive. Also before installing Win7 I made sure that AHCI was the selected BIOS settings.
Then I run into the first problem I had last time the two HDD's I connected via SATA cables did not come up as detected, then Win7 loads and loads and yeah forever loading so I recheck the cables the Power cables and redo the process of turning on and waiting for Win7 to load. Then I tried something that determined my problem I unplugged my CD drive that was plugged into SATA port 1 and plugged my newest HDD into that port with a new SATA cable I recently bought I then plugged my CD Drive into SATA port 2. So it detects my SSD and HDD but not my CD drive! I'm assuming somehow I must have made a mistake and somehow made 4 of my 6 SATA ports fail, so I guess unless someone has a way to test the SATA ports other than just plugging something like a CD drive in and seeing if it detects, I'm stuck with two drives and no optical. Until of course I can either pay to have my motherboard looked at or if not just upgrade my computer motherboard and all.
If anyone knows some way I'd really appreciate it and also if I'm supposed to start a new thread sorry I've kinda noticed submitting this counts as an answer rather than a question.
So far I've formatted my old HDDs (failed to mention I connected 3 HDD not 2! Sorry this means anything different)
Formatted my new HDD and connected to SATA port 2 with an old HDD connected to SATA port 1 and my SSD connected to SATA port 0 and it doesnt detect it at all, even though connected to SATA port 1 it functions properly. Apart from formatting my old HDD's I really do not know what to do and I'm really stuck.
If anyone could help I'd appreciate it.
upon further research about my Motherboard I found this:
which basically says due to 4 of the ports not working well showing poor performance you can get a replacement by end of April,2011. Though due to me not checking their website, I only find out now...
I submitted a ticket about my problem the fact that I spent the equivalent of a motherboard (my motherboard was $270NZD) on various parts including a new PSU, A new HDD and even a new SATA cable, but due to me not knowing I could have stayed with my original parts and just gotten a replacement motherboard.
Well I'll stop my bickering but hopefully I get a replacement, or if not I'll just save up for a new Motherboard and maybe just new everything while I'm at it.

jemm :
I would go for a new OS installation in you SSD -- just disconnect the HDD cables, and install the OS with just the SSD connected -- make sure it is set to AHCI, and it set as a primary boot device and drive.
After the installation is done, just re-connect the HDD cables again, then use the software Samsug provided you (Magician) to make the tweaks, and you´re done!
The SSD will be your C drive.
I hope it helps!
