So I have an asus h81m-c and has 4 sata ports and my problem is that sata 3 and 4 are not working only 1 and 2 my gpu is hiding the sata 3 underneath so I have only access to sata 4 and I just want to plug my dvd drive to sata 4 cause 1 and 2 are being used to hdds but simply when I plug something to sata 4 it doesn't work nor an hdd or a dvd drive but when I boot to bios it can see the sata 4 that I have plugged in something to it but when I boot to windows I cant see the dvd drive or an hdd that I have put to sata 4 even tried to reset bios still doesnt work any help please.

Solution
Do you have all the drivers for the board installed?

Is the SATA mode set to ACHI in BIOS? Some older optical drives don't play nice unless the SATA mode is set to IDE or legacy. Other than that, I can't think of a reason the headers wouldn't work (unless they are defective of course).

Can you temporarily test the devices on the 2 working headers anyway?

That's what I meant by "Do you have all the drivers for the board installed?". Good to know the problem is solved for you. Now you have full functionality.
