I recently bought an HDD from Newegg and to my dismay it was an old flat cable Hard Drive (yes apparently they still sell them)

which of course wont connect to my new Gigabyte GA-970A-D3 Motherboard and its SATA, and of course it happened to be a non refundable item, so now I need to find a way to connect it to my PC and I was hoping to get some help from you guys finding some kind of adapter

all I found was a thread that helped someone with the Opposite of my problem...

You can use either the card that USAFRet suggested, or an IDE-to-SATA adapter (like this one) to convert your connection. It has a 40-pin connector that attaches to the hard drive, and on the other side, you attach your Serial ATA cable and a floppy drive power cable (to power the converter chip inside the adapter). You will need to supply power to the hard drive separately using a 4-pin Molex connector.

For better reliability, it would probably be better to use USAFRet's suggestion. IDE-to-SATA adapters, in my experience anyway, tend to be finicky and unreliable.

*EDIT* Wow, I need to start typing faster. Burdenbound suggested a similar adapter, just without the plastic shell like the one I suggested has. It should work ust as well, though.
