This laptop is giving and RTC Battery message on boot and I have to keep changing the date - Order new battery as this one is dead - Anyone know if this model has a CMOS Battery? I looked around and found video's on Youtube but they never show the CMOS Battery replacement.

Thanks for your help.

I have a Satellite C55-b5270 and my laptop does not have a cmos battery, even though there is a spot for it on the motherboard. The laptops main battery handles keeping the time.

I would say if you are getting a rtc error, your model does have a cmos battery.

I would power off the laptop, remove the battery if possible, and take all of the bottom screws out. The bottom cover will snap off and then you can see if you have a cmos battery or not. If you do, id replace it. Its a cr2032 btw.

Is your laptops main battery charged and working? Your main laptop battery functions as your RTC battery, which will keep the time and date. Toshiba omitting a CMOS battery was some sort of a cost cut.
Does the time/date reset if the laptop is left on the charger while the laptop is shut down?

No - External batter is dead - A CMOS batter is like 5 dollars - How much did they really save? More like cheapo laptop to me - Ordered a new External.

At least I know now - Thanks
