Well first of all, hey tom's hardware community 😉

Now to my question, I just wanted to ask if anyone knows what the maximum voltage for the rx 5700 is, I'm kinda new to overclocking with voltages so i gotta ask before i destroy something :)

I actually want to run it arround 2050 mghz clock speed and arround 900 mghz memory clock, i've tested it with 1.1 voltage, but as I said I'm not sure if that's too high.

There is "a" specific voltage and 1.2 volts seems to have a consensus.

But do not configure or apply that voltage yet.

Very likely that there are trade-offs and risks involved.

Reference the following example links (you can easily find other similar links with reviews and test results):

Then put the information into the overall context of your current or intended computer.

Note for example the wattage impact.

I mean I know I've read that it's not like I didn't google it before, but as you said I might still be "dangerouse" and furthermore I wasn't sure if that 1.2 volt mark applys also to the normal version without XT.

So there's no actual way to find out if a voltage is say or not?

Safe or not. Possibly.

You can certainly wait/hold on doing anything and there may be other responses (one way or another) to your post.

I have no problem with that.

In the meantime take a close look at the User Guide/Manual and the configuration specifications.

Read the fine print. Find out what voids the warranty.

Well i'd rather keep waiting for now, but still thanks.

I seem to recall reading that 1.2V is the maximum voltage you can run any 5700 or 5700XT GPU at. It's hard-limited by AMD, as I understand it, and therefore not only are the reference cards limited to that but the partner cards are too.

That said, there are ways you can get around the limit. Something called Power Play Table mods.

Whether or not your card can run even at the 1.2V maximum depends entirely on how good your card's cooling is. At any rate, most over-clocking success stories I've read entail raising the power limit of your card to the max and then under-volting to the limit of stability whilst leaving clocks at defaults.

Keeping it cool with under-volting so it's not throttling to low clocks and enough power budget to boost high when it can seems to net the best FPS ratings in benches like Time Spy.
