SBlive 5.1 Plt resource hog-HELP!

Since I installed the SB Live 5.1 plat (win 98), with everything on,
resources drop to 58% at startup! If I disable most in ms config the system hangs at startup, somtimes permanantly, mostly for about 2.5 minutes. Basically when ever the "SB16 Emulation driver not loading" happens in dos, long wait is coming. Latest drivers for the SB and the ATI 9500 pro have been installed. Not to mention that really anoying flashing update thing. Any ideas would be great, thanks.
Also, how do I stop this loading at start up in Win 2000?

Disbale the SB16 Emulation by diabling that device under Config Screen - System and see if that free up more resources.

Thanks svol, tried reming it, computer locked up totally on startup. DAM this thing is p*?!!! me off.

You also need to disable ethe device in Device Manager otherwise you can get conflicts. The autoexec.bat stuff is only to load the DOS drivers before Windows boot... REM'ing that doesn't disable the device.
