Take down an operation in "some other country" ?

Politics, ANY countries politics, moves a lot slower than the release of some PC/gaming hardware.
By the time they figure out and decide that "these idiots must be taken down", these isdiots will have moved on to the next scalping target.

Yes. The Continental Pipeline Hack was foreign actors with "an operation in another country". But more to the point, we need to help defend our cyber-infrastructure from such vulnerabilities.

Besides, will the operation may be in a foreign country, they are entering the US by connecting with the servers of our stores.

It is not the target, but the type of attack we need to defend against. We have a navy to protect against attacks by sea. An air force to protect against air raids. We need to defend against the possible misuse of bots to do real damage to this country. We must increase our cyber protection efforts.

@USAFRet never said it would be easy. Little Boy and Fat Man were not easy projects. The moon landing was not an easy project. Just because it is difficult doesn't mean we give up, Thanks to the talent and grit of our Armed Forces, this nation has overcome several challenges to its security in the past. We can do the same with cyber security. We just need to prioritize it.

As said by a terrorist organization long, long ago:
"But remember, we only have to be lucky once — you have to be lucky always "

Worth saying that these presale items are against eBay’s Ts and Cs given the product will not be delivered within 30 days. Presale policy

If anybody wanted to flag a listing, all they need to do is click the ‘report item’ action, then select ‘Listing practices’, ‘inappropriate seller terms’, and finally ‘presale’.
Reported 5 auctions lol

This is all really just a plot to get people back into brick and mortar stores! Can't find it online? You're local computer shop has them in stock! Support your local stores and your local economies! That's where we're headed!

J/K....?

You forgot to add the /s .
Physical stores would have to scalp the steam deck in the first place just to get them in stock and sell them without losing money.

Can you actually blame the scalpers if people keep buying the stuff for ridiculous prices?
Scalpers should start tournaments who can sell lowest MSRP for highest price.

I would not pay 649 for a 512GB gaming "handheld" that will become obsolete in a year. I don't care if its the most advanced one, or whatever valve said.

When Im out of my home, I do not want to play or access my steam library, I want to enjoy the world and the people Im spending time with.

If I need to do something with my spare time while Im away from home, I will just read a book.

When Tom's posted about Valve's servers crashing, I asked if it was Bot stocking scalper's eBay shelves for Christmas. I just got my answer: "Sadly, Yes."

Bots should be banned as a cyber security issue. We have just seen they can take down a retailer's server. While Valve doesn't sell essentials, Target and Walmart do. What if a bot attacked them for essentials. Maintaining the integrity and availability of retail is essential for national security. Imagine what would happen if a foreign actor used bots to overload the servers of the nation's major retailers. We need to demand are representative do something. These Bots, and the resulting scalping, are just warnings of a more dangerous problem on the horizon. Imagine the crisis if all the online retailers went down.

While I agree about the bots, that was literally impossible to pull due to the requirements on steam accounts, unless someone had been stocking on bot accounts on steam for this purpose and spent money on each one.

How is it going to become obsolete in a year?
For these people it's obsolete from the get-go, for anybody that's ok with it it's going to be ok for several years because it will be able to run lower tier games for quite a while.

Lol, weirdo! Do you also still go buffalo hunting?
Smart phone gaming is huge because people need something to do while they are bored going to and from their jobs/school and smartphones is all they have.
This is going to be a nice alternative for people with the money to spend.

There no buffalo in Argentina, but if I go away from the city to breath "fresh pure" air, either be mountain or the beach, I really don't want or need any game, mother nature, friends and family are more than enough to spend time.

Also while taking the bus/metro or train to go to your job/school is a good time to meet women :) , if one is playing/chatting or whatever on the cellphone may waste a chance to meet someone special!

there is REALLY GOOD beef in Argentina though... yeah. I really do hope they can solve the scalper issue

Bison is very tasty and lean though. I must say, my son and I love it over hamburger, we can get it in our stores. free range fed, but Argentina has excellent beef for sure.

/s All the women are going to come to you when you play your steam deck and are all going to be like "oh how cute" and "does it play the sims? " you are going to meet so many women... /s

Also the target audience for this thing, namely kids and jung adults, do all their meeting new people on-line anyway so this thing can be used for that as well.

This really makes me cry, we are loosing soo much of the "human touch" thank to the "screens". But yeah many meet new people online, thats how it is this days.

Reminds me of this one story where matchmaking 'evolved' and was done by a supercomputer...
Yes, a computer already picked your 'most compatible' life partner before you even started potty training.

~Anyways... this is all nothing new.
If you have to hate something, then hate the players, not the game. If you don't hate either, that's actually better.

Just report the listings, eBay has restrictions on preorder / presale items. They must be shipped within 30 days of the auction or sale which obviously isn't the case for something that doesn't ship until the end of 2021 / 2022
