scanning document to pdf using hp deskjet 1050a

have a printer hp 1050a used to be able to scan documents to pdf. I have followed instructions as per previous thread don't have scanner options. do you think I am missing a driver. I have adobe acrobat and reader software on my computer should I be using this

The is a driver-only package for this product and there is a full package, that includes the application software. Maybe you have only the driver so far?
