Scared that my PSU will blow soon.

I recently found out that the PSU I have is soooo bad it is actually ridiculous. People have told me that the PSU is horrible and it will blow when I put any other components in it that exceed 400w considering it is a 500w PSU. I've had this PSU for a while and I never considered that it was really that bad and I know I'm dumb or putting high-end components in this.

My main worry is money as I've been saving up for a new GPU for so long to find out that I need to buy a new PSU with that money and I may loose my expensive parts with the PSU blowing.

Is there anything I can do that you would recommend. Bare in mind I've being doing some really intensive gaming in this rig for over 3+ years with a PSU that is less that £20. I know I'm an idiot but any help is recommended, thanks.

Erm. Buy the new PSU, mate.

If you buy a new graphics card that draws even more power from the cheap PSU, then you're going to be out a computer. In the best case scenario, you won't be able to turn your computer on until you buy a new power supply for it; in the worst case scenario, something will have been damaged.

If it's that bad, change it, why risk losing an entire system for a few quid?
