Does anybody really care? I mean Google is status quo, but to some degree also because it's a household name. Even if Bing was much better, as long as Google provides the info I am looking for, why change. One exception in the WolframAlpha engine (which also integrates into Google if needed).

"Do you think Bing could pose a significant threat to Google or Yahoo?"

The only threat it will pose is to the project manager responsible for spending oodles of MS cash to develop this dud.

I've tried Bing mostly because I use MSN as my home page for the news & stock quotes. Seems OK. I like the feature of more info appearing when you hover the mouse over the links, but as for quality of the info it finds, I don't see a vast improvement over Live Search or Google...

Decision making engine? I saw the ads saying how it's better than a search engine and I tried it but didn't see a difference. Also, google's shopping gave me more (and better) results for what I searched for. On the other hand, I do find bing more aesthetically appealing and the travel section seems like a good move. But for normal search, I'll stick with google.

I think it is unlikely anyone can push Google of their thrown right now… But it is M$, If they decided to throw enough money and resources into Bing, It may actually end up being decent.

I love Bing personally. Its a very pretty search engine that gives results normally equal to Google. I use Bing over Google now just because it is prettier, and the mouse-over video search thing.

Well, if Bing were competing against only Live search, I would have to say HUGE WIN.

They have pared down the extraneous garbage on the interface and I can now use Bing to get results from Microsoft's knowledge base.... at least someone at MS was listening.

Still, not quite as good of results as Google for most of my searches (usually technical searches).

Bing does do a really good job of getting past my porn filters I installed at work...negative to me but could gain them market share :)

Bing poses about as much threat to google as the girl scouts selling lemonade down street pose to Lipton. :)-

I like bing for searching for videos.

The mouse over feature is awesome. It will soon be copied by Safari and listed as their latest and greatest feature.

It will be tough to beat Google.

I saw the Bing commercials...

All I could think about was the knights who said 'Ni'.
Damn you Monty Python.

And no, I don't think has a serious issue at their doorstep. Some loss of revenue maybe, but not huge.

I think Bing (after some use) is a poor attempt at some aspects of Web 3.0. It actually feels a whole lot more like "rebranded Live Search" than anything else. I've sought several "decisions" from it, and get poorer and poorer results with each iteration. Actually, on some queries I did not get a single relevant result. Though not every search was pointless I would say "Google...you remain securely at the top of internet usefulness and general inquiry, for now."

Yahoo is doomed, and has been for years. It's a geriatric patient ticking down to heart attack. Google will always be a search engine, and as much as it innovates, it'll be a search engine before it's a lifestyle.

As for M$, Well, They'll be in email, chat and interfacing as long as people buy Windows.

To put it in Media terms:
Microsoft is Viacomm
Google is the New York Times
Yahoo! Is every local news paper out there.

I don't see microsoft has any strategy being put forth. All I am hearing is a bunch of marketing/consulting talk.

That said, I like the travel search on bing. It allows users to browse the best travel deals not based on dates and arrange them by price on the same page. Other sites make you choose a location first and show you the prices. Great for travelers without a plan and just looking for the cheapest spot to go. Little thing but I find it useful.
