Screen flashing through white, green, and red

Hello, i went to start up csgo today and my screen started flashing through white, red, and green in that order. The entire screen would stay white for about 3 seconds, then red for 3 seconds, and so on. I turned my monitor off and on again and everything was fine, what could have been causing this?
Specs:
R9 280
i5 4590
8gb ram
window 10
This also happened a few months back, so im a little lost as to what the issue is.
