Hi guys. I bought a new motherboard, graphics card, power supply and RAM but i decided to use the phenom II X3 and unlock its 4th core. So i reinstalled my OS and everything from drivers to updates and when i unlock the 4th core and boot up windows, the desktop icons and windows and start menu and everything i touch with the mouse arrow flickers. I haven't tried it in games and i noticed my CPU fan runs a lot faster with the core unlocked. The BIOS says that the CPU is 40 degrees without the 4th core but only a few temps higher when unlocked.
Specs:
MSI 970A-G46
Phenom II X3 710 (when unlocked it says X4 10)
8GB of Kingston HyperX RAM
LC Power LC6650GP3 V2.3, 80 plus bronze certified, 14cm fan
MSI GeForce GTX 650 Power Edition OC
Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB

I should also add that this doesn't happen when i lower the resolution. My highest res is 1440x900 and when i lower it to lets say 1280x720 it doesn't flicker. I already confirmed that it has something to do with me unlocking the 4th core. I think its either an unstable core or i need better cooling.

Solution
A sobsama1 said, unstable core, you could give it a little more volts to see if it helps, if not your stuck at 3 cores, so just overclock them, may even be of more benefit to higher MHZ, than the extra core.

So its not the stock cooling, its the bad core? That's what i thought at first and i would have prefered if it was a cooling problem
