Hey I have a question, my parents have a computer which recently started having an issue. The monitor screen goes black but is still on, the computer is still on and running. I have tested the monitor on another computer and it works fine so im guessing its not the monitor. Could it be the built in video card and or psu? The system is hooked via vga cable and not hdmi

My parents system: amd 250 X5 @ 3 gh
4 gb RAM
22.4 certified Data monitor
230 W corsair PSU

well so it will be on for a while and itll be fine. After browsing for maybe few minutes the screen goes black. Turning the monitor off and on again makes it better for maybe another 2 minutes before it goes black again.

oh forgot to mention, the problem is slow at the beginning so itll be fine while we are browsing the internet-nothing too graphically related. Then the monitor will turn off, after a while though the symptoms get so bad that the monitor goes black every two seconds.

I'd formulate that it's either a problem with the display, or even possibly the connection. Have you tried adjusting the connection cables? If that comes to no avail, then you may simply have a dying monitor. If it went black under too much graphical stress I'd blame the VC, but that doesn't seem to be the case in this occurrence.

but if I did have a dying monitor wouldn't the symptoms show on another computer? I tried replacing the monitor on the other computer and it didn't go black at all for the hour that I tested.
I also replaced the vga cables to see if that would solve the problem but it still keeps going dark.

hmm actually ya I paired another monitor and no the screen doesn't go black. Does that mean it is the monitor? Could it be psu as well? I just don't want to go buy a new monitor and have that turn black on me as well
