Screen goes muti coloured and freezes

Need some help my pc has now frozen twice overnight. I leave my pc running overnight either downloading updates or acting as a media server, and when I wake up my screen has frozen and gone muti coloured, no bsod or anything

My specs are amd fx3150, Asus m8 motherboard, amd r9 270 gpu 8g ram, Im running speed fan to control my fan speeds and my internal temp rarely hits 45 degrees.

Have read somewhere online that this cause by the gpu overheating?

ive found what you described only happens when the GPU fails (but can be heat triggered). other wise they will under clock or completely power off if they are getting to hot.

i would run the card through its paces with some games and stress testers and see if the problem turns up during any of that.

I play Rome total war 2 with everything cranked up and dark souls two and ac unity, can play for hours without any problems. Just seems when pc is left on overnight it has a funny five and goes funny

well that should suffice just fine for stressing it then. might be your PSU and or the low power states for your hardware... at this point i would start swapping parts to see if it will stop.

Just updating the drivers know for the gpu and have adjusted fan speeds on speed fan
