Hi,

So I've recently bought a MSI RTX 4080 graphics card, weird thing is when I swap out my RTX 3070 with the RTX 4080. everything works fine until I shut my PC down. Then when I turn it on, no display shows on my screen. It's only when I swap it back out with my RTX 3070, then swap again to RTX 4080 it works for just a bit until I shut down my PC.

I've got a ASUS motherboard, and checked on Armoury crate, I've got latest drivers. Also have latest BIOS, checked GeForce and I've got latest driver too. Any idea what's wrong?

It would really help if you can first provide complete and FULL PC specs.

Hii,

Try clearing the motherboard's CMOS memory. This process resets the BIOS settings to default, which might help resolve any potential configuration conflicts. Refer to your motherboard manual for instructions on how to clear CMOS.
I hope this will be help you.

Hi,

I removed the battery which should reset the BIOS settings. But I noticed that everytime my screen doesn't turn on the GPU fan doesn't spin on startup. It's only when the GPU fans spin on start-up do I know my screen will turn on.

I have a 850W PSU, so i was pretty sure its plenty of power for the RTX 4080. What I've now been doing is turn pc on/off with the 12PIN GPU cable on/off. Then at some point my monitor will turn on.

So it looks like sometimes for some reason the GPU isn't powering on. I can see from my motherboard the VGA light keeps coming on. so my motherboard is telling me some issue with the GPU.

Ok so I ended up buying the Corsair's 8-pin PCIe - 12+4pin Connector off Amazon for £25:

This appears to have fixed my issue. Either something wrong with my OEM PCIe cable or the actual converter MSI provides. Because my GPU fans wouldn't spin upon turning pc on (suggesting its not getting power or enough). But using the 12VHPWR, has resolved my issue now. No longer have issues with monitor not turning on.
