Screen orientation auto-resets itself to landscape.

Hi, i'm hoping someone here can help.

I have a monitor which can rotate to be used in portrait or landscape, but it doesn't also auto-rotate the desktop like some more expensive monitors do, so i have to do it manually via Catalyst Control Centre.

If i rotate my desktop orientation to portrait in CCC, it lasts about 15 seconds then auto rotates itself back to landscape again. In doing so, it still seems to treat my desktop width as though it is in portrait mode, disallowing me from docking any shortcut icons to the right half of my desktop. In order to regain my full desktop i have to reselect portait, then reselect landscape before this weird auto-adjustment kicks in.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on here? I'd like to stop this auto-adjustment altogether, so i can use my monitor and desktop in either portrait or landscape as i wish.

Catalyst: 11.11
Display card: Radeon HD4850
Monitor: Dell U2312HM
OS: Windows 7 32bit

Thanks for the reply, i've just tried changing the orientation in desktop management -> properties, and it displays the same behaviour.

Also, setting the orientation via the Windows 7 display settings rather than the Catalyst Control Center results in the same, but i noticed it gets confused about what resolution the display is in. After auto-reverting to landscape, display settings still thinks it is in 1080x1920 (explains the desktop icon docking problem), then when re-setting to portrait again the resolutions drop down turns into a small grey empty box. After then, when i select landscape, everything goes back to normal (landscape, 1920x1080).

Weird.
