Screen Resolution Issues

Hey Everyone,

There are a number of games that start up in lower resolutions (typically 1280x720, and sometimes 1024x768) and my Windows 7 desktop display is at 1920x1080.
(Sniper Elite II, Risen, Natural Selection 2)

My problem is that when I try these games out from first install they minimize to the taskbar and if they are brought into focus they are black screened, with sound running and then again minimize to the taskbar.

I can typically solve the 'crash' by a) changing the config file for each game and b) changing my desktop resolution.

I can't remember when these problems first started but they have been happening with AMD's 14.4 and 13.12 (Stable) drivers.

Does anyone know if this is a continual driver problem or a windows problem, and if there is a permanent fix for my issue? This hasn't happened in all the games that start in this resolution.

There are no additional drivers for the monitor, the link you gave is for DirectX 9.0c, last published in 2011.
"The Microsoft DirectX® End-User Runtime provides updates to 9.0c and previous versions of DirectX"

I have Windows 7 which runs DirectX 11. Only Windows 8 and 8.1 run 11.1 and 11.2 respectfully.

Since AMD has changed their driver structure to make for I think quarterly stable releases I haven't yet tried the beta drivers. 14.6 but I might give that a go and see if that changes anything.
