Screen resolution keeps changing on reboot

So I have a custom built pc with an AMD R9 270x gpu and whenever I reboot my computer the resolution changes from where I have it set normally to the lowest possible setting. I have updated the drivers for my gpu, and run several other troubleshoots, none of which have helped. If you need anymore specifics I can hopefully provide them for you.

does the motherboard also have onboard video to see if still have that problem or not?

The motherboard doesn't; however, the cpu does.
