Hello!

I just 2 days ago did hook up my tv to my pc to watch movies and i have noticed screen tearing lines over the screen, its not all the time but almost and you notice them easy when its a fast action movie.

I have 3 monitors in extended mode and then i run the tv as duplicated from the primary one the the pc is connected with hdmi to my bluray player/home theatre system.

Is the problem with hdmi or the mode i have heard some say extended works.

I have 2 of my monitors connected with displayport and 1 with dvi.

All monitors are 1920x1080 and my tv is a plasma lg full hd 1920x1080 so all same res.

Solution
no, its not going to hurt your tv, its just annoying. if all your monitors at 60hz, you could lock in a 59hz refresh which should solve the problem, though you would effectively lose 1fps all the way around.
plasma huh. sounds like a refresh issue. plasmas often run in true 48hz, though they still shouldn't have much problem with 60hz. since you have the plasma duplicating your computer monitor, its likely the refresh doesn't match up. you should try using the plasma as the "main" monitor and see if the tearing goes away. if it does, its because your computer monitor and plasma have slightly different refreshes.

you could use powerstrip to check the actual refresh rate of your plasma

then create a custom profile and force whatever refresh the plasma is to your computer monitor. this might not be ideal but i should remove tearing if your trying to duplicate.

Thanks for the answer i have read some other saying the same that the tv is trying to duplicate the refreshrate and thats why it gets screen tearing/lines.

And some said it works in extended mode too.

But my problem is as i already have 3 screens setup i would not like to mess it up so i would like to run it as like 3+1 or so.

i will mess around a little and see

If i run my plasma as prefered still in duplicated mode then my tv wont have any tearing byt my moitor will and thats ok since im not looking at it when im watching movies, but now my question is.

Is it bad to run the monitor/tv so it screen tears? do they only try to duplicate the refreshrate or do it change and run on lower/higher so it can be bad for the monir/tv in any way?
