Question Screens went black and gpu fan ramped up to 100%

Hi all, i've a small question to ask to help quell a concern. I booted up my pc this morning and booted up a smallish game ( Tavern Manager Simulator ) and about 2 minutes into playing both of my monitors went black, and the fans on my gpu ramped to 100%. I hard reset the pc, booted up the game again, used afterburner to watch temps, and had no issues, game ran fine for 2 hours, then i turned it off, temps didn't go about 60c ( with this gpu i've noticed i rarely go over 70 unless its a demanding game such as Alan Wake 2 or Cyberpunk ) So my question is, was this potentially just a blip, or a sign of something serious? Any help would be appreciated, thank you all.
PS: The only change to my pc was i bought a new wireless mouse and this was the first day of using it.

How old is the PSU in your build?

Use DDU to remove all GPU drivers(intel, AMD and Nvidia) in Safe Mode from your platform, then manually reinstall the latest driver sourced from Nvidia's support site in an elevated command, i., Right click installer>Run as Administrator.

How old is the PSU in your build?

Just under 3 years old now i think, around that time frame. I'll try reinstalling the drivers and get back to you on that.

So it seems to be working okay now, i've played a few games, warframe, tavern sim again, and no black screens/fans ramping up, so is it possible it was just some sort of blip? as i said, today i switched to a new wireless mouse but i can't imagine it was the cause, regardless it seems to be okay now, thank you for the help

Hi again, thought i'd just report in and say that since it happened a few weeks ago, ive not had an issue again with it? Reinstalled drivers and stuff just to be safe, but i'm hopeful it was just a small blip or something? Thanks for the help again all

So unfortunately i'm back, everything was okay for a few weeks until today, i booted up hollowbody for the first time, got like a minute into the game and this situation happened again and forced a reset, the only things i can think of that have changed lately are a new mouse, microphone and i remember turning on core isolation on device security, but these shouldn't be causes right? i looked into event viewer and i have something saying i had a critical event with the id 41 kernal power, is this the cause?Could it be my power cable for the 4070 super? i switched out the stock for https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0BWN8BKPX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 this cable as the stock one had a hard time fitting in properly to my gpu, is this possibly it?

Try reversing the change.

Kernel power event is not the cause. It is consequence of reboot without proper shutdown.

Check if gpu power cable is properly inserted.

So yeah, turned that back off, cable seems secure, and i've had no issue again, its only happened twice in the last month, with two not very demanding games, a couple minutes after booting them up, and once i've hard reset the pc i've been able to play no issues, i was able to boot up and play warframe for a few hours fine, its never happened when just using the pc to browse, only when gaming, and the oddest thing was i could still hear audio from my pc when it happened both times, i'm going to hope? It was just a blip, i'd updated nvidia drivers a few days before this second time so yeah, hopefully just a blip, i may be back though if it happens again, thank you all again for the help!
