So, the title pretty much says the important bit. My USB ports started resetting themselves on me after a windows update. Naturally, my first troubleshooting step was to uninstall the drivers, and let windows put them back on fresh. Well, it gave me back my USB 3.0 drivers, but my 2.0 equipment is non-operational. I've checked my system board manufacturer's site (Gigabyte B450 DS3H), but no 2.0 drivers, and the chipset didn't put them on. I'd really love to be able to get to my external hard drive. Anyone know where I can get a hold of them?

On a different note, my roommate suggested turning off fast start (which I completely forgot even existed), and rebooting the computer. It did not fix the USB issue, but it's fixed nearly every other problem I've been having...

Makes me think many of your problems are drivers then if turning fast startup off fixes it.

One thought, instead of a clean install, you could do a reset. It forces windows to reinstall all new drivers, but downside is you lose all your programs. It would save all your documents though so its not as bad as a clean install but its not perfect either.
