I recently left for a New Years' party and turned my computer off. I came back only to turn my computer on and be greeted by the dreaded blue screen of death.

Lovely.

As if that weren't bad enough, even when I try to run my computer in safe mode, it goes right back to that blue screen. My error message:

STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0x86EC8113, 0xF7A6D7B0, 0xF7A6D4AC)

My computer used to just reboot right through them, so I had no worries, at first. Of course, it went back up again, and I panicked.
If you didn't already find out, I'm using XP.

I don't know how to use the recovery console either. I tried safe mode, Last Working Configuration, and normally. None of them work. Sorry if I sound like an angry 13-year-old, but I am, because I just bought a new game for $50 that I can't play anymore, thanks to you, blue screen. Please, please help. Thanks in advance.

To get to the repair console, you need to boot fromt the XP CD and choose the Repair option from the first screen. From there, you can run chkdsk and see if that will solve your boot issue.

You should try a "repair" install of XP from your CD. Here's how to do it - follow the directions and you won't lose your data or your program installations. After you complete it, you'll have to go to windows update to download and install all the updates.
