I'm not quite sure how this happened.:??: I'm hoping it was just a combination of keyboard shortcuts that did this and that its easily undone. The issue is as simple as the title says. I have a scrollbar and file catergories (Looks very similar to how it does in the file explorer but you know... on the desktop.) on the outermost top and right portions of the screen. As well making all of my icons appear in a single collumn, kind of like if you turned on the 'Details' view in file explorer (I actually have around 100 icons but I have to scroll for an incredibly long time to get to the bottom, very frustrating.
It even F***ed up my Fences I had set up so that they're just empty carcasses of what they once were.
Restarting, shutting down, and playing around with scrolling while holding down ctrl does nothing. If anyone knows how I did this and how I could fix this I would immenesly appreciate it. Thanks again for any responses.

can you take a screenshot so we know what it looks like? upload it to a image sharing site and share link here.

you haven't turned on tablet mode by accident I assume? open action centre and expand the row at bottom to see if tablet mode is on though you didn't mention start button tiles so I expect it isn't

Thanks for the response Colif, Added a picture of both my screens.
Checked action center and no, unfortunately that wasn't the issue, it remains off despite the weirdness

Yeah, scrolling with the mousewheel while holding ctrl does the same thing, no differences aside form icons getting a bit smaller. They're still in a collumn and affected by the issue

HOLY C**P! It's almost fixed! Evenm the Fences are working again! (the scrollbar on the right side is still there but my icons are kinda back to normal)
I was reading the article Sinxar linked and tried to put it into 'List view" by HOLDING CTRL AND SHIFT WHILE PRESSING THE NMBR KEYS FROM 8-0
(So kinda the opposite of what it said in the article to do. But whatever, it worked!

The biggest issue for me was the icons but if someone has any ideas on how to tackle the scrollbar it'd be awesome. Can't thank you all enough for the help.

Yeah, I suppose it would be considered 'Skinny" you can see it on the far right side of the images on the right monitor's screen. I've tried restarting explorer.exe a few times and even ended it and started a new process but I can try it again.

I am having the opposite problem. I can't make the scrollbar show up! I put a huge number of icons on the desktop and made them very large. They all just stack in the corner. I have no idea how to make it show up or disable it.

In that link I gave you, it says how to enable that view and it just doesn't work. It only lets me cycle through small/med/large and thats it. I did a fresh install this morning with the creators update too.

I didn't know you could have all that info on desktop, going to stay away from that key combo. I don't show my icons though anyway - made a desktop toolbar on taskbar but hardly ever use anything on desktop anyway.

creators edition may have changed it though - too early to tell what it has actually changed.

1 fix I found for the scrollbar is restart explorer - https://superuser.com/questions/1021569/scrollbar-on-the-right-of-my-desktop

After experimenting a bit I tried to simply disconnect my right monitor and plug it back in and voila! Scrollbar gone. Thanks again for the help guys and yeah, be careful of those key combos. 😉
