SCSI disk for windows?

Hello my friends.I have all the components to build an old PC based on intel 775 socket.Also I have Seagate ST373307LC SCSI 73GB disk and I am wondering can It be used as OS partition,I am planing to use windows 8.1 or windows 10.
If can,how I should make it?

Take a look HERE to insure you meet the basic W10 requirements.

Otherwise, there is no particular reason that it cannot run newer Windows versions other than a lack of drivers. You *may* be able to use older drivers in compatibility mode. The most common driver issues that I see are Ethernet and wireless adapters.

Is the SCSI connection motherboard based or do you have an add on controller, like an old Adaptec? W10 has a generic SCSI driver, as no equipment that old would have OEM drivers available, and that could be an issue or not.

73GB is plenty of space to install W10. Since you have all the parts and you can get a trial version of W10 or W8.1 at least the Enterprise version, you really have nothing to lose by trying other than some time.

If you have a scsi interface, typically and add on card but not always, and if you can find a driver for it it will work fine. So that's where you start

Thanks 4 answer.I have only a disk,the only thing I want to know is "Is there any way to connect that disk to my 775 mobo".I didnt see that before

Ah, no 775 boards that I know have a built in adapter. You would need an old SCSI adapter. It would be a gamble on the OS, as it is only supported up to Windows 7, but the Adaptec 39160 can be found fairly cheap.

edit: Two caveats though, you need a SCSI cable and you are better off buying a standard card, not a Dell unless you have an actual Dell computer as there can be issues of compatibility. It would be cheaper to just buy an old compatible but small HDD other than SCSI.

I used this Adapter quite a while back and it worked well. Still have one in my parts box in the closet.

First insure that you have a free 64 bit PCI slot on your board, you can check the manual to determine that, if you don't have a manual the manufacturer website probably has a pdf version online and you will want a manual for any build with the board.

If you really want to use SCSI, there are many 39160 cards on EBay in the $15 range, just don't buy a Dell version. And don't forget that you will need a SCSI ribbon cable, which cost $5 -10 on EBay.
