SCSI Zip with SATA Drive...Strange

A7N8X with Barton 2500
Seagate 80GB Serial ATA Drive
WD 40GB Drive
Windows XP Pro

Recently I added a SCSI Card and SCSI ZIP drive.

After installation I was able to access the ZIP, including
reformating/accessing files, etc.

I noticed however that when using Internet Explorer:

Could not download files.....the save to
dialogue/window hangs when attempting
to select drive.

Autocomplete typed in addresses in the
address bar didn't work.

Rebooted, etc with no luck.

Uninstalled the SCSI card & Zip.......all returned to normal.

I have a lot of zip disks that I'd like to use/save so I'd like to figure
this one
out.

Any ideas on troubleshooting this kind of problem??

I had similar problems in early 2003. I removed the Iomega software that
was unnecessary, expecially activedisk. I also found this article and
followed the SCSI Bios settings for my Adaptec 2940UW. The inference or
conclusion was that the SCSI Bios was trying to handle the ZIP as a
harddrive as I recall. These changes let WINXP handle it as a removable.

If your SCSI card installs its BIOS at boot time you must watch for the
message about which key sequences to press to enter the SCSI Bios. If
your SCSI Bios does not install at boot time then this won't/may not
help at all.

Try to change the BIOS settings of your SCSI card.
With my K8V Deluxe I had SATA & SCSI trouble too: I was unable to boot from
SATA disk connected to VA SATA controller. I found out that my Adaptec
2940UW caused the trouble. I tried different SCSI BIOS settings, and now all
works as it should.
