SD Card Not Recognized by Computer

I use an old PC to store photos from my digital camera because it has an SD reader built into it whereas my current one does not.

Each time I insert the card into the slot I am prompted to view the photos and such, but tonight I inserted the card in and no options came up. It seems the card is no longer being recognized.

I have made absolutely no changes to anything with my system which unfortunately still runs Windows XP.

Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you.

If the sd card is recent the reader may not support SDHC cards

Thanks for the suggestion but I'd like to get mine working before I purchase a new one.

Both the computer and the SD card are several years old. They've worked with no issues for me until last night when it wouldn't recognize the card.

Check the device manager when you plug it in. Does it attempt to load drivers? if so, then the card is still working but the software has an issue. I can assist further if you can provide this information.

Thanks for the help. I checked and nothing at all loads in the device manager when I insert the card into it, which I'll assume isn't a good sign. What do you recommend next to fix the issue?
