SD Card Reader says the card is write-protected

MY card says its locked when I have it in the camera and then when I put in computer it says it is write protected how do I fix this

Under Windows Explorer, select the card and right click on it. From the drop down menu select 'Properties' and uncheck the 'Read only' box.

Just for my information, why do you want to write to this card while it is in the computer? Normally the files (photos) are read and transferred to a folder in the computer for editing. Is it for subsequent deletion?
