Hello, as title says it all, I like to know will Seagate 1TB ST1000DM003 hard drive work in Gigabyte GA-G41M-Combo Rev 2.0 motherboard. Motherboard SATA transfer rate is SATA 3Gb/s but this hard disk is SATA 6Gb/s. Thanks in Advance.

Solution
Should work fine, no compatibility issues. ICH7 can boot up to a 2TB HDD and even supports TRIM on SSDs even though it doesn't support AHCI

Thanks! So it means Western Digital Blue 1TB WD10EZEX will also work?

Should work fine. The only compatibility problems I ever had were on SATA 1.5Gb boards where you had to jumper or use a drive manufacturer utility to lock SATA 3Gb drives at 1.5Gb xfer rate to make them work. I don't think any SATA 6Gb drives even have either of those options.

You could use even a 4TB drive as a secondary disk, but you can't boot from >2TB.

Thank you very much. 🙂
