This has happened before, and i managed to solve it, but this time it just doesnt want to play ball.

I have a seagate 2tb expansion desktop drive model SRD00F2, and it just randomly stops working from time to time. This time, it stopped working, and I can no longer find it in my computer, disk manager, and even trying to run chkdsk shows no results. However, it does show in device manager, where the drive icon has a small arrow pointing down on it. I think this indicates an error, which shows up on the drives properties page, as a code 22, saying the drive is disabled. However, i cannot enable it, it says 'windows was not able to enable this device'.

When plugged into pc, i hear the usual 'chime' to recognise something has been plugged in, but then nothing else happens. The drive spins up and the blue light on top of it is on constantly (although it usually flashes).

Genuinely stuck for ideas now, google is throwing up nothing useful. It's drive letter was J, and running this on chkdsk throws no results either.

Anyone able to assist? Thanks

I have a SRD00FT (2tb - Seagate expansion) purchased recently ( April) which displayed similar issues.

I was in the middle of a long directory copy which had been running for a few hours - I received a file can't be found message - retry, skip, stop. I noticed the disk was no longer on-line. I pulled the power connector out from the disk and reinserted, the disk came back on-line and copy continued after I entered retry.
This has occurred several times since when I've been doing extensive copies. The disk continues to work.
Was the initial solution you mentioned the same?
I was going to remove it from the case and check it using desktop power or I could do the right thing and take it back to the store.
Thanks
