Was using this USB external HDD (NTFS) for media storage (windows 10). Drive was labeled as O: Stopped working and is now only recognized in device manager as a SCSI drive. Not showing in disk management.

Hooked up to a Windows 7 machine this drive works fine. All media is available and a drive new drive letter was attached to the volume. I renamed it back to O:

Plugged it back into the Windows 10 machine and still no dice. Listed in device manager as a SCSI, can't access it or find it anywhere else.

I'm stumped.

Any suggestions?

FYI, if you change a drive letter in one computer and plug it into another computer, the drive letter will not be the one you changed earlier. It will be assigned a new drive letter or one which it had previously on the same computer.

Yes. I was aware of that. Changing USB ports makes no difference. The cable is fine and works perfect on the 7 machine. I'm just gonna bite the bullet; have a 2 TB M.2 SSD coming today. Gonna throw it in the 10 machine and use a 116 GB flash drive to transfer all the media back....all 1.5 TB of it....yikes.
