Question Seagate 500GB drive is not detected ?

Assuming your SATA cables (data and power) are both working, maybe the drive has decided to stop working. Judging by the low capacity of the drive, it may be quite old and well outside the 2 or 3 year warranty period.

Use a different SATA data cable and connect it to another port on the motherboard. Also, try a different SATA power connector. There may be a bent pin or a broken wire somewhere.

Does the drive show up in Windows Drive Management without a drive letter?

Can you feel the hard disk platters spinning inside the drive? If there's no vibration, then it's not surprising you can't see drive D:.
